Exclusive Capricorn 01 Zagato supercar: 95% red color and 888 horsepower
The premiere of a unique automobile took place on the shores of Lake Como. Capricorn chose the prestigious Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2026 competition to showcase the latest prototype of the 01 Zagato model. This bespoke example is named Tutto Rosso, which translates to “All Red”. Astonishingly, 95 percent of all visible surfaces of the car are painted red.
Third validation prototype
This car is not just a private commission. It serves as the third validation prototype within the development program, with serial production scheduled for the end of 2026. The two previous test cars featured a green Knokke body with brown leather interior and a yellow Giallo Sole paintwork combined with blue suede.
Red color in every detail
The red color penetrates deeper than just the bodywork. It covers the wheels, the interior, and even mechanical components. The most obvious comparison would be cars from Maranello, but Capricorn points to entirely red racing cars from the 1930s, specifically the 1931 Alfa Romeo 6C with bodywork by Zagato, which served as a benchmark.
Inside, the cabin is upholstered in red Connolly leather and red Alcantara. The only exceptions are the pedals, the manual gearbox lever with an exposed mechanism, the analog instrument dials, and a few decorative elements on the steering wheel.
Innovative approach to carbon fiber
The boldest application of color is on the carbon fiber monocoque itself. Capricorn’s engineering team in Düsseldorf developed a special red-tinted resin for weaving, allowing the color to be integrated into the structure without compromising the integrity of the tub. The engine bay follows the same logic: parts subjected to the most heat are left black to ensure durability.
Technical specifications and power
The mechanical part remains unchanged compared to other prototypes in the program. A mid-mounted, supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine, based on the 5.0-liter Ford block, produces 888 horsepower (662 kW / 900 PS) and 1000 Nm of torque. This power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a five-speed CIMA manual gearbox with dog engagement.
Thanks to a dry weight of less than 1200 kg, this exotic car promises to accelerate to 100 km/h in under 3 seconds, with a top speed reaching 360 km/h.
Production plans and price
According to Capricorn, the third prototype incorporates a number of technical improvements that will be applied to future production models. After its first public showing at Villa d’Este on May 16th, Tutto Rosso will return to test tracks for final calibration.
Production of the 01 Zagato model is limited to 19 units, a nod to the founding year of the Zagato atelier — 1919. The starting price is 2.95 million euros ($3.43 million) before taxes. Capricorn reports that only a few build slots remain available.
This approach to color and detail makes the Tutto Rosso not just another supercar, but a true work of art on wheels. The integration of red pigment directly into the carbon fiber is a technological breakthrough, demonstrating Capricorn’s pursuit of perfection in every detail. Given the limited run of 19 units and a price tag exceeding $3 million, this car will become a coveted exhibit for the most discerning collectors who value not only power but also unique design and history. The combination of modern technology, a powerful Ford engine, and a classic manual gearbox creates a unique driving experience that is hard to find in today’s world of automated hypercars.
