Mazda MX-5 Shows Record Sales
Despite the overall trend towards heavy crossovers and SUVs, the lightweight sports MX-5 continues to gain popularity. In July 2025, Mazda sold 130.8% more of these cars than last year. This indicates that the market still values the feeling of the open road and maneuverability.
Overall, in the first seven months of 2025, the MX-5 even outsold the Mazda3 Hatchback in terms of the number of cars sold. The CX-5 remains the brand’s leader, but the CX-50 shows an even more impressive growth — of 40.4%.
Not All Mazda Models Are on the Rise
Sales of the Mazda3 fell by 12.7%, and the CX-30 lost a third of its demand altogether. However, the company’s overall performance in the US remains positive — 255,355 cars sold in the first seven months.
Interestingly, the MX-5 is not only regaining its audience but also helping Mazda maintain overall growth in a market dominated by SUVs. It seems that even in the era of electrification and autonomous technology, there will be fans of classic driving.
