Tesla’s Longest-Range Electric Car is Already Unveiled, But It’s Not for You

New Version of Tesla Model 3 for the Chinese Market

Tesla has introduced an updated version of the Model 3 Long Range in China. This model is equipped with a new 78.4 kWh battery from LG and an electric motor with a power output of 302 hp. The announced range according to the CLTC standard is 830 km (516 miles), making it the longest-range model in the company’s lineup.

It is worth considering that the Chinese CLTC cycle differs from the European WLTP. It accounts for the specifics of driving in congested cities, where frequent stops allow for more efficient use of regenerative braking. Therefore, the actual range under other standards may be lower.

Technical Specifications and Price

This version costs approximately 14% more than the base Model 3 in China, which offers a range of 634 km. It is currently unknown if Tesla plans to introduce this model to other markets, but if so, the specifications may change.

The Chinese market remains key for Tesla due to fierce competition with local manufacturers. For example, some Chinese electric cars already offer a similar range, but with larger batteries. The updated Model 3 Long Range could become a serious argument in the fight for customers.
