The Most Rugged Version of Honda CR-V Is Now Available

In 2024, the Honda CR-V was among the top five most popular cars in the USA, despite lacking a true off-road variant. However, in 2026 the situation will change — the company has introduced a TrailSport version for this model.

The TrailSport badge is already available on other models from the brand, but it appears on the CR-V for the first time, and exclusively in a hybrid configuration. This is the first TrailSport with a hybrid engine, but probably not the last, as 30% of Honda’s sales already come from models with electric support.

More aggressive design, but mostly for the city

Like other TrailSport models, the CR-V has received a number of stylistic changes for a more masculine look: protected front and rear bumpers that mimic off-road skid plates, orange accents on the emblems, glossy black elements on the door handles and spoiler. A special Ash Green metallic color from the Passport model is also available.

The 18-inch Shark Gray alloy wheels have hidden valves to protect against stones and branches, and the Continental CrossContact ATR tires are designed to improve off-road capability. However, unlike other TrailSports, this version did not receive a special suspension or genuine underbody protection, as it is primarily designed for urban use.

Under the hood is the familiar 204 hp hybrid powertrain, but the interior has been adorned with TrailSport logos on the headrests, special floor mats, and bronze-toned ambient lighting.

What else is new for 2026?

All CR-V trims now feature at least a 9-inch touchscreen (instead of a 7-inch one), wireless charging, and support for Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. The TrailSport version additionally received a heated steering wheel and seats, a panoramic sunroof, a power tailgate, and a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster.

The updated CR-V and TrailSport Hybrid will go on sale in the fall of 2026, and their prices will be announced soon.
