New Mazda CX-5 2026
The CX-5 remains one of Mazda’s most popular crossovers: since its debut in 2012, over 4.5 million units have been sold, with 1.6 million of them in the USA. However, in recent years, the model has been outperformed by newcomers such as the CX-50 and CX-70.
The third generation CX-5 received an updated design in the Kobo style, inspired by elegance and functionality. The car is easily recognizable from the outside, but it has become more expressive thanks to a new grille, sharper headlights, and a sportier bumper. The rear now features the word “MAZDA” instead of a logo.
Updated Interior and Technical Changes
The interior has become more minimalist with a 15.6-inch multimedia system. Most buttons have been removed, moving controls to the screen. Improved seats, a panoramic roof, and ambient lighting are also expected. Thanks to increased dimensions, passengers have gained more space, and the trunk has become longer.
Initially, the model will be offered with a 2.5-liter engine (187 hp), but a hybrid version will appear in 2027. Details about it have not been disclosed yet, but Mazda promises improved efficiency.
The new model is expected to go on sale in early 2026. Its price is likely to be higher than that of its predecessor, which may create competition with other models of the brand, such as the CX-50.
Despite retaining the base engine, Mazda emphasizes an updated transmission tuning for smoother operation. The offer of a hybrid in a year could become key for the market, especially considering the growing demand for eco-friendly solutions.
