Dodge’s Most Powerful Hemi V8 Engine Returns, But Its Price May Surprise You

Powerful Hellephant A30 Engine Back on Sale

Car owners who dreamed of installing a factory Hemi V8 into their new Charger have gotten their chance. One of the most powerful and extreme engines ever offered by the manufacturer for self-installation is once again available for purchase. Stellantis has resumed sales of its incredible 1000-horsepower Hellephant A30 engine through the Direct Connection program.

Specifications and Purchase Conditions

The Hellephant A30 is a supercharged Hemi engine that has reappeared in stock. Its power is 1000 horsepower, and torque reaches 950 pound-feet. However, you need to have $35,000 on hand to purchase it.

This engine, available on the Mopar Direct Connection website, is built around a new third-generation aluminum Hemi block. It features reinforced six-bolt main bearings, forged internal components, and a powerful twin-screw IHI supercharger. An important purchase condition is that Direct Connection will not allow ordering the engine without first providing the vehicle’s VIN code.

This is for those who understand restomods and engine swaps, so providing a VIN code is unlikely to be a problem.

Success Story and Future Prospects

This is not Mopar’s first experience with engines producing over a thousand horsepower. When the original Hellephant debuted in 2018, its price was $29,995. Despite the high cost, it sold out in about two days due to high demand from car builders and collectors.

Production was limited back then, likely to around 100 units. Enthusiasts who missed the first wave were forced to search for engines at auctions and through private channels, where they cost even more than the initial price. The new appearance of the Hellephant on the market could be an important signal.

This may mean that Stellantis management has given the green light for the production of more powerful Hemi engines. We knew the Hemi was returning, but the Hellephant is the most extreme version Mopar has ever created.

This makes the appearance of a new Hellcat V8 engine under the hood of another Stellantis-badged car almost inevitable very soon. It could even happen on January 1st.

The return to the market of a unique product like the Hellephant A30 indicates that demand for high-performance engines among enthusiasts remains consistently high, despite the general trend towards electrification. It also demonstrates the manufacturer’s readiness to support its legendary Hemi engine lineup, adapting it to modern capabilities and standards. Such steps underscore the importance of traditional values in car culture, such as power and individuality, which continue to find their adherents.
