The Most Radical Version of the Porsche 911 Lets Its Hood and Rear Wing Do the Talking

Update for the Sharpest 911

Despite sports cars and snow typically being incompatible, Porsche continues winter testing of the updated 911 GT3 RS model, expected in 2027. The car was spotted in Europe with less camouflage than before.

Design and Aerodynamic Changes

The updated model has received an aggressive new front bumper with pronounced air intakes and a hood with optimized ventilation openings. Designers have also refined the car’s aerodynamic package.

The changes have also affected the front headlights. Although they look familiar, upon closer inspection, it’s evident that the daytime running lights are now connected by a circular light strip.

Familiar and New Elements

The familiar ventilation openings on the front fenders and the roof fins have been retained on the sides. The car is equipped with alloy wheels and a high-performance braking system.

Although the side view has hardly changed, the rear has received a number of updates. A new rear wing has appeared on top, now featuring three slats instead of two.

Slightly lower, above the license plate recess, a new ventilation opening is located. This suggests a new rear bumper is also expected, currently hidden under plastic camouflage.

Rear Updates and Interior Expectations

A new diffuser and a centrally positioned dual exhaust system are also noticeable. Interestingly, there are cutouts on the outer edges of the diffuser that resemble exhaust outlets.

Photographers were unable to capture the interior, but some updates can be expected. If we look to the updated 911 Turbo S, possible changes include a new multimedia system with faster response and support for third-party apps, as well as updates to trim and upholstery.

Questions Under the Hood and Technical Specifications

The question regarding the powertrain remains open. Rumors are circulating about the possible installation of a turbocharged engine, which would be a real revolution, as turbochargers are usually reserved for the GT2 RS model. However, the company that placed the Turbo badge on its electric vehicles may not be guided by strict conventions.

It is known that the current 911 GT3 RS model starts at $250,000 and is equipped with a high-revving naturally aspirated 4.0-liter six-cylinder engine producing 518 HP (386 kW) with 463 Nm of torque.

It is paired with a seven-speed PDK transmission, allowing the coupe to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (0-96 km/h) in exactly three seconds and reach a top speed of 296 km/h (184 mph).

The updates for the GT3 RS appear more evolutionary than revolutionary, focusing on further refinement of aerodynamics and design. The question of a turbo engine remains the most intriguing mystery, which could significantly alter the character of this legendary model. For now, Porsche demonstrates that even in its most extreme versions, they do not forget about constantly improving every detail, even in conditions far from ideal for a sports car.
