The fastest and most powerful front-engine convertible

The new Aston Martin Vanquish Volante model is equipped with a V12 engine with 824 hp and a top speed of 211 miles per hour.

The retractable fabric roof adds attractive proportions to the car, revealing a two-seat interior.

The convertible version weighs 95 kg (209 lbs) more than the coupe.

Aston Martin has just introduced the roofless version of the Vanquish called Volante, marking its 60th anniversary. This new addition to the lineup matches the coupe as the fastest and most powerful front-engine series production car, offering the benefits of open-air driving.

Under the hood lies a 5.2-liter multi-point V12 engine, generating an impressive 824 hp (614 kW / 835 hp) and 737 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed ZF transmission with an electronic differential.

The chassis has been reinforced to compensate for the lack of a rigid roof, but the weight increase is limited to 95 kg (209 lbs) compared to the coupe. The weight distribution has changed, so Aston Martin engineers supported the suspension with adaptive Bilstein DTX dampers.

Unlike other convertible versions of fixed-roof coupes, the Aston Martin Vanquish Volante achieves a top speed of 214 miles per hour (344 km/h), which equals the top speed of its coupe sibling. This makes it the fastest front-engine convertible, as its top speed is 211 miles per hour (340 km/h). However, the convertible Aston Martin is slightly slower off the line, completing the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint in 3.4 seconds compared to Ferrari’s 2.95 seconds.

While appearance is subjective, the Volante versions of Aston Martin models generally look overtly more elegant than their coupe counterparts. This holds true for the new Vanquish Volante, where the retractable fabric roof helps to highlight the proportions and accentuates the elegant lines of the profile.

The rear trunk does away with the integrated ducktail spoiler of the coupe, opting for a more subdued appearance. Importantly, the folding roof can be stored under the deck lid in 14 seconds, revealing the two-seat interior to the elements. According to the company, the fabric roof features improved acoustic and thermal insulation that rivals the coupe.

The two-seat interior is entirely carried over from the Vanquish, although featuring an additional roof operation switch and a new button for direct access to ADAS controls. The equipment includes dual 10.25-inch screens and a specially tuned 15-speaker audio system from Bowers & Wilkins.

Standard Sport Plus sports seats can optionally be replaced with carbon Performance seats. Other options include a lighter and louder titanium exhaust system and a leather luggage set, as this is a grand tourer.

Of course, buyers have access to a multitude of customization options—including bespoke components—courtesy of Aston Martin’s Q division.

The Aston Martin Vanquish Volante is already available for order, with first deliveries scheduled for the third quarter of 2025. However, Aston Martin will not produce them in large quantities, as the entire Vanquish family lineup will have a production volume of less than 1,000 units per year.
