New Kia EV3 GT Sport Variant Undergoes Testing
A prototype of the Kia EV3 GT electric crossover has been spotted during active testing on the Nürburgring track. The car, concealed under camouflage, showcases updated aerodynamics and technical improvements that promise to enhance its dynamic performance.
Expected Changes in Design and Components
The standard Kia EV3 model is practical but not oriented towards driving excitement. The GT version aims to correct this by offering a more energetic driving character. Although the prototype is still hidden under body panels, changes are expected in the front end, including a new radiator grille and air intakes, as well as minor adjustments at the rear.
This prototype is equipped with different wheels compared to previous test samples—the design is similar to the production EV3 but with more silver details for a sporty look. Bright green brake calipers are also noticeable.
Technical Updates and Performance
The base version of the EV3 has a single front motor with 201 hp, which is sufficient for daily use but not for enthusiasts. The GT model will receive an additional motor at the rear, providing all-wheel drive. However, the power is likely not to exceed 300 hp, estimated to be around 280 hp, which is significantly less than the 601 hp in the EV6 GT.
A battery with a capacity of 81.4 kWh will be used, which in the front-wheel-drive version provides a range of up to 583 km. For the GT, this figure will decrease. The 400-volt architecture is retained.
The introduction of an all-wheel-drive system and improved aerodynamics could make the EV3 GT more attractive to those seeking a more dynamic electric car without a radical increase in power. This could also impact the competitive landscape in the compact electric crossover segment, where the balance between efficiency and performance is becoming increasingly important.
