In the Russian city of Obninsk, a very non-standard tuning of the Mercedes S-Class W140 was carried out. The iconic Boar Mercedes was crossbred with an equally legendary vehicle – the GAZ-66 truck.
The work on the unique car took several years. The body of the Mercedes S500 was mounted on the frame chassis of the GAZ-66. At the same time, the car retained its original interior, the 5.0-liter 320-horsepower V8 Mercedes engine, and a 5-speed automatic transmission.
However, the all-wheel drive transmission is GAZ’s. Brake discs from a DAF truck and Volkswagen Touareg calipers were also installed. The huge 38-inch Mickey Thompson off-road tires also draw attention. A significant part of the details had to be created independently. Now, this Mercedes W140 is not afraid of any off-road, yet the car retained all the “gimmicks” of the 90s S-Class.
