Rare Prodrive P25 Appears for Sale for Nearly a Million Dollars
The limited series Prodrive P25, created as a modern tribute to the legendary Subaru 22B, has now appeared on the secondary market with a price of around £700,000 (nearly $934,000). This significantly exceeds its initial cost of $560,000. Only 25 such cars were produced, making them extremely rare.
The P25’s feature is the use of carbon fiber body elements, including the hood, roof, and fenders, which reduced the weight to 2,645 lbs (1,200 kg). The EJ25 engine was upgraded with forged pistons, steel connecting rods, and a new Garrett turbocharger.
Technical Specifications and Performance
The engine produces 440 hp at 6,000 rpm and 619 Nm of torque at 3,000 rpm. Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) takes less than 3 seconds. However, a recent auction example with 190 miles on the odometer did not meet its reserve price, receiving a maximum bid of only £350,250.
The current example, finished in Subaru’s classic blue color, has 980 km on the odometer. The question of whether its rarity and technological solutions justify such a high price remains open. The collector car market often dictates its own rules, and the P25 could become an investment object for true enthusiasts of the brand.
