Anticipation for the New Generation BMW M3
The automotive world is eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new generation BMW M3, which, according to forecasts, will debut at the end of 2027 or early 2028. This model will continue the tradition of powerful sports sedans, combining classic features with modern technology.
Key Features of the Upcoming Novelty
Future of the Engine and Design
Despite the development of a fully electric iM3 version, BMW has confirmed that the internal combustion engine version is not going away. The new model, likely to be designated G84, will introduce the Neue Klasse design language for the M3 family, ensuring a clear visual break from the current car.
The question is whether this will be an improvement or just a different direction?
Exterior Design Updates
Following the appearance of photos of a camouflaged G84 M3 prototype undergoing testing in Europe, renders have been created combining design elements of the iX3 Neue Klasse with details from the current M3 CS. The company will completely change the exterior appearance, including a simplified profile, widened wheel arches, and new front and rear styling.
Design and Controversy
As with the second-generation iX3, the car features LED headlights integrated into carefully crafted kidney grilles. The lower bumper, radiator grille, and air intakes have become more angular, making the M3 even more aggressive. BMW received considerable criticism during the debut of the current M3 and M4, particularly for the excessively large front grille. Although time has softened some opinions, this design remains controversial.
Technical Aspects
Unlike Mercedes-AMG, which transformed the C63 into a hybrid with a four-cylinder engine, the G84 M3 will use an updated version of the current 3.0-liter six-cylinder twin-turbocharged engine, likely with mild hybrid boost, making it more powerful and faster than ever.
Given the significant changes in design and technology, the new M3 could become the car that divides generational opinions. However, BMW’s focus on mechanical aspects and preserving traditional engines could ensure its success among brand enthusiasts. It is important that innovations do not overshadow the uniqueness that makes the M3 an icon of sports sedans.
