Concept of a New Electric SUV from Volkswagen
Volkswagen has announced sketches of a new concept set to debut at the auto show in Munich. This design suggests the creation of a compact electric SUV, which is expected to go into production next year. This electric vehicle will become the electric counterpart to the current Volkswagen T-Cross model.
Presentation at the IAA Mobility Show
Volkswagen’s lineup for the IAA Mobility show in Munich will include not only the next generation T-Roc. Visitors will also see for the first time the conceptual look of the future affordable electric SUV, preliminarily shown in official sketches that appeared ahead of schedule.
The images were published on social media by Andreas Mindt, Head of Design at Volkswagen. Although the teaser does not reveal the name, it describes the model as a “concept car close to series production.”
Impressive Design in a Compact Format
Despite belonging to the subcompact SUV class, the sketches give it an impressive presence thanks to large alloy wheels and elongated proportions. However, it is worth remembering that design drawings often exaggerate these elements, and in this case, we are still looking at a concept, not a finished production car.

The front features slim LED headlights and a sturdy bumper guard. The profile includes pronounced fenders, similar to the ID.Every1 concept, and wraparound glazing. The rear is equipped with full-width LED taillights and a futuristic diffuser with additional LEDs. The latter are likely to be toned down in the final product along with other details.
Technical Features
The SUV will be built on the MEB Entry platform, like the production versions of the ID.1Every and ID.2All concept cars. Buyers can expect front-wheel and all-wheel drive versions, with single-motor and dual-motor configurations in the lineup.
Production and Competition
Volkswagen has not confirmed when the production version will appear, but a debut next year seems likely. The electric vehicle will be manufactured at the plant in Pamplona, Spain, alongside the conventional T-Cross and Taigo, which also belong to the B-SUV segment. The same plant will produce the closely related Skoda Epiq, shown in concept form last year.

Pricing Policy
Given that the ID.2all hatchback is priced from €25,000 in Germany (approximately $27,000), including 19% VAT, this SUV is expected to be slightly more expensive, likely in the range of €25,000–30,000 (approximately $27,000 to $32,000).
When it arrives, it will enter a crowded market of compact electric SUVs, competing with models such as the Kia EV2 and EV3, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Suzuki e-Vitara, Ford Puma Gen-E, Peugeot E-2008, Opel Mokka Electric, Jeep Avenger, Alfa Romeo Junior Elettrica, and Volvo EX30.
This move by Volkswagen demonstrates the growing competition in the affordable electric SUV segment, which could lead to lower prices and improved technologies for consumers. The use of the MEB Entry platform allows the brand to scale production efficiently, which could positively impact the availability of electric vehicles in Europe and beyond.
