Fiat’s next hit — a compact car reviving a legendary model

Fiat unveils the Grande Panda 4×4 Manifesto concept

Fiat has announced a conceptual version of the Grande Panda 4×4, which could become the basis for a future production off-roader. The model features enhanced off-road capability, additional LED elements, and a retro-inspired design. A key feature is the electrified rear axle, providing all-wheel drive, though exact technical details have not yet been disclosed.

The concept was unveiled during a test drive of the Grande Panda Hybrid in Italy. The company describes it as

“the fullest embodiment of an idea that continues to evolve”

, emphasizing that this is just the beginning of a new lineup. The design includes plastic body cladding, a roof-mounted spare tire carrier, and pixel-style LED panels.

Technical features and design

The car is finished in burgundy as a tribute to the original Panda 4×4 from 1983. Additionally, the model features beige accents and 16-inch steel wheels with off-road tires. The electrified rear axle likely uses technology similar to that installed in the Alfa Romeo Junior Ibrida Q4.

Although Fiat has not yet revealed details about the powertrain type (mild hybrid or fully electric version), experts suggest that the all-wheel-drive system could be compatible with both options. The production version is expected to hit the market by 2026.

This news highlights the growing interest of automakers in compact yet off-road-capable models. The Grande Panda 4×4 Manifesto combines nostalgic design with modern technology, appealing to both urban dwellers and outdoor enthusiasts. Given the popularity of similar vehicles in Europe, Fiat has every chance to establish itself in this segment.
