Why wait for the new Prelude if you can get this almost new model with only 998 miles on it right now?

A rare Honda Prelude in excellent condition is for sale for $45,000

The new Honda Prelude model will arrive at dealers this year, but collectors are also interested in the old versions of this Japanese coupe. Their prices are rising rapidly. For example, a 1993 Honda Prelude Si in showroom condition with only 998 miles (1606 km) on it is offered for $45,000.

This is a fourth-generation Prelude in Milano Red color with gray fabric upholstery. The car was sold in February 2025 for $40,000, but it appeared on the market again a few months later – now $5,000 more expensive. Obviously, some sellers are more interested in reselling than in using the car.

The story of one specimen

According to the previous announcement, this Prelude was purchased new in Pennsylvania and owned by one owner from 1992 to 2024. The condition of the body, interior, and mechanics indicates that the car was hardly used. Externally, it is completely original – from the 15-inch alloy wheels to the dual exhaust system.

The interior also looks like new. Standard equipment includes bucket seats, a cassette player, a power package, a sunroof, cruise control, and air conditioning. Under the hood is a 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine producing 158 hp, paired with a five-speed manual transmission.

The engine and underbody show no signs of corrosion or aging

The car recently underwent a full service, including replacement of the timing belt, water pump, and other working components. This Prelude is now offered for sale again with delivery available nationwide. The only question is who is willing to pay $45,000 for a 33-year-old car when a new generation is coming soon.

Such specimens are becoming increasingly rare, especially with such minimal mileage. The collector’s market shows that well-preserved Japanese cars from the 90s can cost significantly more than their first owners expected. These are no longer just vehicles, but pieces of history that only increase in value over time.
