The Name “Zora” Was Never Planned for the Corvette ZR1X Model

Chevrolet Introduces the New Corvette ZR1X

For many years, automotive enthusiasts have been expecting the arrival of a top-tier Corvette C8 version named “Zora”—in honor of Zora Arkus-Duntov, an engineer known as the father of the mid-engine Corvette. However, Chevrolet chose a different name—ZR1X, which caused disappointment among fans.

A company representative explained that the name ZR1X emphasizes its kinship with the ZR1 model:

“ZR1X is an extension of the ZR1 family, so we believe this name is perfect for the new version”

. At the same time, he noted that Chevrolet had never officially confirmed the use of the name “Zora”.

Technical Features

Despite the controversy over the name, the ZR1X impresses with its characteristics. The car is equipped with a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 1064 hp, which is complemented by an electric motor with 186 hp. Thanks to the hybrid system, the total power reaches 1250 hp, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in less than 2 seconds.

Chevrolet adheres to a traditional naming approach, similar to Porsche with its RS index. However, for many Corvette fans, the ZR1X remains a true American supercar, regardless of its name.

Although the expectations for the name “Zora” were not met, the car itself looks impressive. The use of hybrid technology has enabled incredible performance, placing the ZR1X among the world’s best supercars. This indicates that Chevrolet continues to develop the Corvette, combining tradition with innovation.
