In the USA, the winners of the North American Car of the Year award have been announced. Surprisingly, there were no electric cars among the winners.
Recently, the best cars of the year are named in three categories. The best passenger model was the new Honda Civic, surpassing the Lucid Air and Volkswagen Golf 8.
Among crossovers and SUVs, the winner was the Ford Bronco, with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Genesis GV70 taking second and third places, respectively. Finally, the best pickup truck of the year is the new Ford Maverick, which surpassed the Rivian R1T and Hyundai Santa Cruz.
The North American Car of the Year contest has been held since 1989. The winners are chosen by a jury of 60 auto journalists from the USA and Canada. In 2021, the winners were the Hyundai Elantra, Ford Mustang Mach-E, and Ford F-150.
