by The winners of the World Car of the Year 2020 award have been announced. Quite unexpectedly, the large crossover Kia Telluride became the winner. 
In the voting, the Kia Telluride outpaced the Mazda 3 and CX-30. The best sports and premium car was named the Porsche Taycan electric car, and the winner among city cars was the electric Kia Soul EV. Mazda 3 received an award for design.
The World Car of the Year contest has been held since 2003. The winners are determined by a jury of 82 auto journalists representing 24 countries. Last year, the electric crossover Jaguar I-Pace was named the best car of the year.
