Unique Modified Ferrari F40 to be Auctioned
Modifications of such iconic models as the Ferrari F40 always spark controversy. Some believe that such cars should be left in their original state, while others see potential for improvement in them. One of the most refined F40 variants, estimated at $2.8 million, will be presented at an auction in August.
This 1992 F40 was originally painted in the classic Rosso Corsa. After being exported to the UK in 1998, it remained unchanged until 2021, when the owner decided to make a number of modifications. The main updates include a new Azzurro Hyperion color, a sport gearbox from the F40 LM, a Tubi exhaust system, and upgraded turbos.
Technical Details and Features
To improve the braking system, larger Brembo discs were installed, which required changing the wheels. Instead of standard parts, the owner commissioned custom 18-inch wheels that replicate the original design. The car also received an adjustable KW suspension.
Despite the mileage of 32,000 km (approx. 19,884 miles), the interior is in excellent condition. The blue upholstery on the seats and headliner adds exclusivity. This is not the first time a modified F40 has been sold for big money. For example, last year a model in Mint Green went to a new owner for $1.79 million.
This example shows how classic cars can find new life through careful modifications. Even a color change and technical updates do not always reduce the value if executed with taste. Collectors are increasingly appreciating not only originality but also the individuality of such specimens.
