Let me remind you that the Tesla Model Y 2020 is an electric crossover based on the Model 3. Musk mentioned that its price will be approximately 10% higher than the “three”, which means the base model will cost just under 40 thousand dollars. Judging by the previously presented renders, the newcomer resembles the Tesla Model X crossover.

However, Elon Musk reported that in order to reduce the cost of construction, it was decided to abandon the upward-opening doors. The new Tesla electric crossover will have the same powertrain as the Model 3. Buyers will be offered rear-wheel-drive versions with a single electric motor and all-wheel-drive versions with dual motors. However, due to the greater weight, the range of the Tesla Model Y will be somewhat shorter. It can be expected that in the initial version it will be 320-340 km, and in the most advanced one – almost 500 km.
