Geely Presents the New Zhanjian 700 Off-Roader
The Chinese automaker Geely has announced the upcoming Zhanjian 700 off-roader, whose design evokes strong associations with the British Land Rover Defender. The news is accompanied by teasers and images showcasing the model.
Key features of the new car, according to the company, include:
The Resemblance to the Defender is Striking
The comparison with the British off-roader is immediately obvious. The Zhanjian 700 has inherited rectangular headlights with circular daytime running lights, a characteristic radiator grille with backlighting and a centered logo, as well as massive wheel arches with plastic cladding.
If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then Land Rover must be blushing, as Geely prepares to unveil the new Zhanjian 700.
The similarity continues in the side profile, including the shape of the windows and the ventilation outlets on the front fenders. However, the Chinese model has its own distinctions; for example, the window line rises in the area of the rear doors, and the side panel lacks the characteristic Defender protrusion.

Interior and Technical Capabilities
The interior is not fully revealed in the presented images, but a gear lever with a leather armrest, metal switches, and a whole panel of buttons for off-road mode are visible. Among them, there are likely a ground clearance adjuster, a rear differential lock button, and a low-range gear selector.

Technical details are still limited. It is known that the car has an integrated frame and a triple-motor all-wheel-drive system for “intelligent electric performance.” However, the presence of two flaps on the rear wing may indicate that it is a hybrid: one for charging the battery, the other for refueling. Information had previously appeared about the possible use of 1.5 or 2.0-liter engines and a 70 kWh battery.
Expectations and Positioning
The full premiere of the Zhanjian 700 is expected at an auto show in China next month. Geely hints that the model will not be budget-friendly, as it targets the premium off-road segment and promises “flagship-level performance.”
The appearance of such a car from Geely clearly fits the trend of Chinese brands rapidly filling various market niches, including premium and specialized ones. The success of the Zhanjian 700 will depend not only on its external resemblance to the iconic model but also on its real off-road qualities, build quality, and final pricing policy. Competition in this segment is intensifying globally, and Chinese manufacturers are increasingly offering technologically rich models that claim the attention of even demanding customers.
