Drunk driver turned on Tesla autopilot and fell asleep at the wheel

A curious case occurred recently in California. The police detained a drunk Tesla driver who was sleeping at the wheel while the electric car was speeding down the road on autopilot. Drunk driver turned on Tesla autopilot and fell asleep at the wheel

A police patrol became interested in a Tesla Model S electric vehicle traveling on the highway at a speed of about 110 km/h. When the officers caught up with the car, they saw that the driver was “out cold.”

The cops realized they were dealing with the autopilot and apparently feared that the driver was unwell. They undertook to stop the Tesla electric car.

A police car positioned itself in front of the electric vehicle and began to gradually slow down to a complete stop. The autopilot reacted, and the Tesla also stopped. It turned out that the drunk driver was peacefully asleep and was not immediately awakened. Logically, the alcohol test gave a positive result, and now the offender faces a hefty fine with a license suspension.
