Presentation of the Bufori CS8
The Australian-Malaysian manufacturer Bufori, known for its eccentric hand-built sedans, has introduced a new model – the CS8. This ultra-high-performance grand tourer is made from carbon-Kevlar, equipped with a powerful American supercharged V8 engine, and carries an impressive price tag.
Design and Construction
The CS8 inherited features from the 2019 prototype, which, in turn, was based on the 2009 BMS R1 racing concept. The exterior remained faithful to the original, but the details were refined: LED headlights are integrated into the front fenders, the bumpers received more sporty air intakes, and a new spoiler appeared at the rear. The wheelbase was increased to 2609 mm, and the overall length is 4568 mm. The body, like all Bufori models since 1989, is made entirely of carbon-Kevlar composite.
Interior
The interior combines a racing character with elements of luxury. Two electrically adjustable Recaro seats dominate the leather-trimmed cabin. The center console is occupied by a 13.6-inch multimedia system screen, positioned above unusually placed ventilation outlets. An analog instrument panel and a steering wheel from Dodge complement the interior. The car is also equipped with modern driver assistance systems and a smart tag for GPS tracking.
Engine and Performance
The CS8 received a supercharged 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine producing 810 hp and 973 Nm of torque, of which 750 hp is sent to the wheels. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear axle via a limited-slip differential. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 3 seconds, and the top speed is electronically limited to 330 km/h.
Buyers can also opt for a naturally aspirated 6.4-liter V8 from Dodge with 475 hp, or one of the 3.6-liter V6 options from Stellantis: a supercharged version with 455 hp or a naturally aspirated one with 320 hp. There is also an option for a bi-turbo 3.0-liter engine producing 550 hp, which is likely the new Stellantis Hurricane engine.
Technical Features
Chassis details are not disclosed, but the use of adaptive suspension and Brembo brakes is known. The car’s weight is 1550 kg with slight variations depending on the configuration.
Individuality and Price
Bufori founder Gerry Khouri noted that creating each CS8 requires over 9,000 man-hours, and each car is unique. Customers can choose custom shades, hand-stitched interior trim, and unique finishing materials. Each owner also receives a scale model of their CS8 as a gift. Production is located in Kepong, Malaysia, where 150 people work. The price starts from 2.188 million Malaysian ringgit (approximately $517,000), placing the CS8 alongside grand tourers like the Aston Martin Vanquish, Ferrari 12Cilindri, and Bentley Continental GT.
This car not only showcases Bufori’s technological achievements but also highlights the growing competition in the luxury sports car market, where handcrafting and exclusivity are becoming key advantages. The choice of various engines allows buyers to tailor the car to their preferences, making the CS8 a unique offering among its peers.
