In 1976, the Chevette was initially built with a Buick V6 engine before it was replaced by a V8.
The 355-cubic-inch engine delivers 447 horsepower, including aftermarket cylinder heads and pistons.
The vivid exterior and interior add striking appeal to this subcompact car.
The original Chevette can hardly be called a ‘dream car’ for most enthusiasts, quite the opposite. That is unless we’re talking about this particular specimen. You are looking at probably one of the most extravagant Chevettes in the world, which will be sent to auction in Texas for a month. If you have ever dreamed of an American hyper hatch (and let’s admit it, who hasn’t?), then this is probably the closest you will come.
This story begins with quite an unusual source for high-performance figures: Hooker Headers, who initially built it in the USA and showcased it in the Hot Rod Magazine in 1982. Soon, the V6 was replaced with a 350-cubic-inch V8, and the car hit the drag racing tracks in California, where it made its mark.
The hot lap speed response is approximately 447 horsepower and 457 pound-feet (620 Nm) of torque to the wheels. There are no indications of how quickly this thing accelerates to 60 miles per hour (96 km/h), but we are fairly confident that driving it is ridiculously fun.
