Tragedy in Milan
On Sunday morning, a terrible accident occurred in Milan, resulting in one death and three injuries. According to preliminary data, an Opel Corsa and a rented Mercedes G-Class were involved in the collision. Some sources suggest it might have been an AMG model, but due to severe damage, this is difficult to confirm.
The force of the impact was so great that the SUV’s frame literally separated from the body. Law enforcement continues to investigate the exact circumstances of the tragedy.
Accident Details
According to Italian media reports, there were four people in the rented G-Class: a 30-year-old woman, a 23-year-old man, a 20-year-old man who was likely driving the car without a license, and a 19-year-old passenger who later died from his injuries.
The Opel Corsa had only one occupant – the 32-year-old driver, who tested positive for narcotic substances during a preliminary check.
Incident Investigation
Initially, rescuers assumed that a teenager was behind the wheel of the G-Class, but later police established that the driver was a 20-year-old man without a license. He tried to mislead the police by posing as a witness who had arrived to help.
According to Corriere della Sera, surveillance cameras quickly exposed the deception. Investigators noticed traces of blood on the man’s clothes, as well as the absence of one shoe, which was found inside the wrecked SUV. These details, together with camera footage, directly indicated that he was the one driving.
Collision Aftermath
Footage from the scene shows incredibly severe damage to the G-Class. The car’s frame lies on one side of the road, the front part of the body is completely torn off. The spare wheel and another wheel are scattered on the other side of the road. The car’s appearance resembles the aftermath of an explosion rather than a regular accident. The Opel Corsa sustained damage only to the front part.
Vehicle Characteristics
Police are still determining the exact causes of the accident. Speed could have been one of the factors. In Italy, the Mercedes G-Class starts from $180,000, and in the AMG version with additional equipment, the price can exceed $300,000.
This is a heavy, and in some configurations, an extremely powerful SUV. Such weight and power are rarely perfectly combined, especially with a high seating position prone to rollovers. Unfortunately, the people involved in this accident learned this in the most tragic way.

The Mercedes G-Class has always attracted attention with its power and status, but this tragedy serves as a reminder that any car, especially a high-performance one, requires responsible driving. Driving without a license and under the influence of psychoactive substances remain serious problems that require not only legal consequences but also public awareness. Such incidents also raise questions about the availability of renting powerful cars for young drivers without sufficient experience.
