Mercedes-Benz Introduces the New Unimog U 219 Low Version
The Unimog has always been famous for its off-road capability thanks to its portal axles and high ground clearance. However, in some situations, this height becomes a disadvantage. That is precisely why Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks has introduced the new U 219 Low version with a lowered platform.
The main difference of the new model is the rear platform, positioned 200 mm lower than in the standard model. This makes working with loads, especially at construction sites or municipal facilities, much more convenient. At the same time, the ground clearance has only decreased from 339 mm to 299 mm, which still allows the vehicle to handle off-road conditions.
Technical Features
The rear platform is manufactured by Eggers Fahrzeugbau GmbH and has a three-sided design for unloading. Its dimensions are 2.22 m in length and 2.1 m in width. The vehicle is equipped with a 5.1-liter four-cylinder diesel engine producing 188 hp with a torque of 750 Nm.
The cabin of the U 219 Low has received the Uni-Touch system with a touchscreen for controlling the main functions. The model also offers an optional multifunctional joystick for convenient control.
Despite the lowered platform, the U 219 Low retains all the advantages of the classic Unimog, including portal axles and permanent all-wheel drive. This model is perfectly suited for work in conditions where not only off-road capability is important, but also loading convenience.
