This 1971 Land Cruiser, painted in bright Midnight Emerald Green, looks like a regular retro car, but under the hood hides a whole range of modern updates. From a damaged body to a premium interior — the restoration was a real challenge for the masters of Legacy Overland.
Technical Updates
The work began with a complete disassembly of the car, replacing rusty chassis elements, and installing a new GM 350ci Vortec engine with 315 hp. The picture is complemented by a five-speed manual transmission, an updated transfer case, and a custom stainless steel exhaust system.
To improve driving performance, an Old Man Emu suspension with a 2.5-inch lift, new steel wheels, and powerful brakes were installed. Additional features, such as a 12,000 lb winch and modern hydraulic power steering, make this FJ40 ready for any adventure.
Luxury in Details
The interior impresses with the quality of materials: seats, door panels, and rear benches are upholstered in aged-effect leather. Wooden steering wheel trim, air conditioning, and an audio system add comfort, while laser-engraved gear shift knobs emphasize the car’s individuality.
Such a restoration probably cost a considerable amount of money, but the result is worth it. This project is a great example of how new life can be breathed into an old car, instead of sending it to a junkyard.
Projects of this level demonstrate that even the most worn-out cars can become true masterpieces thanks to careful restoration and modern technologies. At the same time, they preserve the spirit of the era, which makes them especially valuable for collectors and classic car enthusiasts.
