Model Update and Basic Specifications
Nissan has introduced the 2026 Kicks model, the base version of which costs $22,430. This car has received updates, including a larger 12.3-inch infotainment system as standard equipment. For higher trims, a new “Cold Weather” option package is offered for $300.
Affordable Car Market Context
Due to tariffs, inflation, and shifting consumer preferences, affordable cars are becoming rare. However, Nissan continues to offer a range of models below $25,000, including the Versa, Sentra, Kicks, and Kicks Play.
Price and Trim Changes
After last year’s redesign, the Kicks returns in 2026 with a significantly higher price: the base model costs $22,430 excluding the $1,495 destination fee. Compared to the previous model, which started at $21,830 and had a lower $1,390 fee, the total entry cost has risen to $23,925, which is $705 more.

Improvements in Standard Equipment
Fortunately, the 2026 model has a number of noticeable updates that make the price increase justifiable. Most importantly, the base Kicks S trim is now equipped with a larger 12.3-inch infotainment system with support for wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, replacing the previous 7-inch display without these functions.
Additional Updates and Options
In addition to the updated multimedia system, the base version now has two front USB-C ports instead of one USB Type-A. The SV and SR trims are also not left out: a “Cold Weather” package is offered for $300, which includes heated front seats, rear air vents, and heated mirrors.
Technical Specifications and Drivetrain Options
The car is equipped with a familiar 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 141 horsepower and 140 lb-ft of torque, paired with an Xtronic continuously variable transmission. All-wheel drive can be optionally ordered for $1,500 or $1,650 depending on the trim. While it’s not the most dynamic combination, fuel economy is up to 28 mpg in the city, 35 on the highway, and 31 combined.
Pricing Policy for Different Trims
Prices for the 2026 Nissan Kicks model range start from $22,430 for the base front-wheel-drive S trim to $28,160 for the all-wheel-drive SR trim. All prices exclude the $1,495 destination fee.
Car prices are constantly rising due to various economic factors, but updates such as an improved multimedia system and additional options can make such increases partially justifiable for consumers looking for modern features in an affordable segment.
