Nissan unveiled the high-speed Nissan Ariya Single Seater concept for the egotist

For the egotist – because we are talking about a single-seater concept. But what a concept! The Japanese company has presented the new single-seater Nissan Ariya Single Seater Concept – a research and development project showing how the fully electric powertrain of the Nissan Ariya can be used on a unique single-seater racing car chassis.

The concept was presented at the Nissan Futures event by Nissan’s Senior Vice President for Global Design Alfonso Albaisa and Nissan’s Global Marketing General Manager Juan Manuel Hoyos, responsible for brand development.

“We are excited to present the Nissan Ariya Single Seater Concept at our Nissan Futures event”, noted Hoyos. “Nissan dares to do what others cannot. With this concept car, we want to demonstrate the powerful potential of the Nissan Ariya powertrain in a motorsport-inspired configuration, manifested not only in the design and style of the prototype car but also in the new dynamic characteristics of the electric vehicle. Serving as a testbed for future technological development, this project may help carry the thrilling emotions of driving an electric vehicle to the racing track, as well as demonstrate Nissan’s expertise in transferring racing knowledge and technology to conventional roads.”

The Nissan Ariya Single Seater Concept demonstrates what Nissan’s electrified sports models could look like in the future.

Albaisa noted: “When we started forming our Nissan Ambition 2030 concept, we kept building upon our ‘Timeless Japanese Futurism’ design language. Now, we are drawing inspiration from the Japanese words ‘shun,’ meaning ‘run fast and effortlessly,’ and ‘sho,’ meaning ‘fly with force and grace.’ The Nissan Ariya Single Seater Concept is the perfect expression of this new style. Using the Ariya EV powertrain in a motorsport-inspired setup allowed our international team to convey this new sense of speed, technology, and craftsmanship.”

The Nissan Ariya Single Seater Concept features design cues borrowed from the all-new, all-electric crossover Nissan Ariya. At the front, the car features an electrified and illuminated stylized “V,” known from the current Nissan passenger car design style. The side design of the car was inspired by the smooth and striking surfaces of the Ariya crossover, maximally accentuated by carbon fiber. Overall, the Nissan Ariya Single Seater Concept represents a form that, like the Ariya crossover, looks as if it was shaped by the flow of air.

Nissan’s participation in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship also played a key role in the creation of the Nissan Ariya Single Seater Concept. Nissan participates in Formula E to show viewers worldwide that electric vehicles do not pollute the environment and can deliver power, strength, and speed, as well as to remain at the forefront of EV design and development efforts.

“Nissan participates in Formula E not only for the sake of racing but also to develop EV technology for our customers,” stated Tommaso Volpe, Nissan’s Global Motorsports Director. “Our EV programs feed into our Formula E program and vice versa, allowing for technology transfer from the road car realm to racing and from racing to road cars. The Nissan Ariya Single Seater Concept is based on the combination of a fully electric powertrain, dual motors, and the revolutionary Ariya all-wheel-drive system with a single-seater race chassis – a powerful demonstration of how exciting electric vehicles can be” .
