German scientists tested women’s parking skills and came to an interesting conclusion

Parking is sometimes a challenge, even for an experienced driver. However, as practice shows, some people manage it better than others. And here arises the eternal question: who parks better and faster, women or men? And is it really true that women are worse at parking, or is it just a stereotype?

It turns out there is some truth to this statement—at least from a scientific perspective. Researchers from Ruhr University in Bochum conducted an experiment involving nearly 70 drivers. The task was to park a station wagon in a standard parking spot. Two things were evaluated: speed and accuracy.

The results were ambiguous. Women did indeed take an average of 20 seconds longer than men, but their caution did not ensure better accuracy. Some participants even refused to complete the maneuver, changed spots, or left their cars in prohibited areas. Scientists attribute this to differences in spatial thinking, which, according to Dr. Claudia Wolf, is more pronounced in men.

Meanwhile, a British insurance company conducted a sociological survey. According to the results, 75% of women admitted to experiencing difficulties when reversing in a parking lot. Moreover, over 21% stated outright that they did not know how to park properly.
