New Nissan Electric Model Inspired by MINI Design

For the first time in Europe, a camouflaged prototype of the future electric Nissan Micra has been spotted.

This compact electric vehicle will be manufactured at the Renault plant as a sister model to the R5 E-Tech.

The five-door hatchback has received round LED headlights and compact dimensions.

Nissan is preparing several new products, among which the fully electric Micra is of particular interest. A test sample of this small model, hidden under camouflage, is already undergoing trials ahead of its planned launch on the European market in 2026. Production of the Micra will be handled by Renault, which will use the same technical base as for the new R5.

Although Nissan previously showed individual design elements of the new Micra in official teasers, only now can the full appearance of the car be seen. The overall proportions, roof shape, and window lines are reminiscent of the Renault R5, but the body is completely redesigned.

Design Features

The round headlights of the Nissan Micra are similar to those installed on the Renault 5, which also has an electric version. However, the Japanese brand has added its own details, such as body-colored inserts and the absence of a radiator grille. The front bumper has only one cooling vent, and the black accents from the teasers turned out to be blank elements.

Among other interesting solutions are round LED taillights, hidden rear door handles, and futuristic alloy wheels with four spokes. The length of the five-door hatchback does not exceed 4 meters, and glossy black trim is placed around the wheel arches, which corresponds to modern automotive design trends.

Technical Specifications

The Nissan Micra will use the AmpR Small platform, which is already used in the Renault 5 E-Tech. The model is expected to offer a choice of 40 kWh or 52 kWh battery packs, with the larger option providing a range of over 400 km.

In terms of power, the Micra may offer the same engine options as the Renault 5: 94 hp, 121 hp, or 148 hp. In the future, the appearance of a sport version inspired by the Micra EV concept is possible, which would receive a 217-horsepower engine from Alpine, but Nissan’s financial situation may affect these plans due to the high development cost.

Price and Release Timeline

Considering the pricing policy of the Renault 5 E-Tech, the electric Nissan Micra should cost around 25,000 euros at the start of sales in Europe next year. In addition to the Micra, Nissan is preparing several other electric vehicles for the European market, including a “green” version of the Juke and a new generation of the Leaf in a crossover format. The development of an affordable model based on the future Renault Twingo E-Tech has also been reported.
