New Electric Version of Ford Bronco: A Powerful Off-Roader That Won’t Be Sold in the USA

Ford Introduces New Bronco Version for China

Ford has developed a special version of its Bronco Sport off-roader for the Chinese market. This model differs from the familiar US variants not only in design but also in technical specifications. Key features include:

Technical Features

The Chinese version of the Bronco offers two powertrain options. The electric version develops 271 horsepower, while the hybrid with a 1.5L engine produces 241 hp. The hybrid is equipped with a 43.7 kWh battery, providing a range of 220 km, and the fully electric version with a 105.4 kWh battery can travel up to 650 km without recharging.

It is known that the Bronco New Energy is a joint project between Ford and the Chinese company Jiangling Motors. The car is equipped with a Lidar system, which is not yet available on American Ford models.

Dimensions and Price

The Chinese Bronco is significantly larger than its American counterparts – its length is 197.8 inches (5,025 mm), which is 8 inches more than the standard Bronco. The model’s weight ranges from 2,510 kg for the hybrid to 2,630 kg for the electric car. The price of the new Bronco in China is expected to be from $42,000 to $56,000.

Interestingly, despite its similarity to the Bronco Sport, the Chinese version offers fundamentally different technologies and approaches. While American models rely on traditional internal combustion engines, the Chinese market is getting modern electric solutions. This strategy indicates Ford’s different approaches to different markets, taking into account local preferences and regulatory requirements.
