McLaren Unveils New Race Car for Le Mans
McLaren has released the first images of its new LMDh hypercar, which is currently under development. This car will be available to a limited group of clients as part of the “Project: Endurance” program. The race car will debut in the WEC championship in 2027 and will participate in the legendary “24 Hours of Le Mans” race.
The “Project: Endurance” program will provide clients with a unique opportunity not only to own a race car but also to gain exclusive access to its development process, communication with the team and drivers. The package also includes a two-year training program at various race tracks around the world with the support of professional instructors and engineers.
Technical Features
The new LMDh from McLaren will feature a unique bodywork designed to meet class requirements, a carbon chassis from Dallara, and a hybrid powertrain. The latter will include a bi-turbo V6 engine and an electric motor, developing a combined power output of up to 671 hp – the maximum allowed by the regulations.
Nick Collins, CEO of McLaren Group Holdings: “I am pleased to announce that McLaren Automotive is collaborating with our colleagues from McLaren Racing to offer clients a unique experience of owning a Le Mans hypercar.”
The company has set an ambitious goal – to win the “Triple Crown” of motorsport in a single season, which includes victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Indianapolis 500, and the Monaco Grand Prix. However, in 2027, McLaren expects serious competition from brands such as Ferrari, Toyota, Porsche, BMW, and others.
This project becomes a significant milestone in McLaren’s history, combining the innovations of the racing division with exclusive opportunities for clients. The choice of 2027 for the debut will allow the team to thoroughly prepare for competition at the highest level, taking into account the experience of the recent Le Mans winners. A special emphasis is placed on the client program, which offers not just ownership of a race car, but a full immersion into the world of professional racing.
