Ford Electric Pickup Update
Ford continues to develop the electric pickup market by introducing the new F-150 Lightning STX model to replace the previous XLT trim. This version has received a larger battery, improved range, and additional power, making it more attractive to buyers seeking modern and efficient solutions.
Improvements in Technical Specifications
Electric pickups have not yet fully convinced traditional truck buyers, but Ford is doing everything possible to advance the segment. The 2026 model year F-150 Lightning STX becomes the successor to the XLT, offering what many customers have been waiting for: greater range, additional power, and a more aggressive exterior appearance, all without a price increase.
This model comes standard with a 123 kWh battery, providing approximately 290 miles (467 km) of range according to EPA estimates. This is a significant improvement over the previous XLT version, which had a 98 kWh battery and limited range. For drivers, this means fewer charging stops and greater flexibility on long-distance trips.
Power and Design
In addition to the increased range, the STX has also become more powerful than its predecessor. Two electric motors together produce 536 hp (400 kW / 543 PS), which is 84 hp (63 kW) more than the XLT. Torque remains at 775 lb-ft (1,051 Nm) and is sent to all four wheels via a standard rear electronic locking differential.
Externally, the STX features a black grille with Grabber Blue accents, STX decals on the hood and body sides, as well as unique badges on the front fenders. The model is also equipped with black alloy wheels with off-road tires, adding to its ruggedness, along with running boards borrowed from the gasoline-powered Tremor version.
Interior and Color Palette
Inside, the STX offers cloth upholstery with Grabber Blue accents and Lightning STX embroidery on the seats. A heated steering wheel is standard equipment, and buyers can also opt for a black vinyl floor, which simplifies maintenance.
Ford has also updated the color palette for the F-150 Lightning for the 2026 model year. New shades include Argon Blue, Marsh Gray, and Ruby Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, which complement the existing range and give buyers more customization options.
Pricing Policy
The most surprising aspect of the update is that the price has remained unchanged. The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for the 2026 Ford F-150 Lightning STX is $63,345, which is identical to the previous XLT trim. The first units of the electric pickup are expected at dealerships in early 2026. Given the added features, Ford expects the STX to become one of the most popular configurations for the model year.
This model demonstrates how manufacturers can combine technological innovation with affordability without increasing the financial burden on customers. The growth in power and range, along with the maintained price, makes electric trucks increasingly competitive in the market, which could contribute to their wider adoption in the future.
