New coupe model from Henrik Fisker’s former company with swan doors and turbocharged EREV hybrid powertrain

The company has unveiled its first coupe, the Amaris, which is planned to begin production in the fourth quarter of 2026. Built on the same platform as the upcoming Gyesera sedan, the Amaris features an EREV (Electric Range Extended Upper Level) powertrain from Karma. Amaris borrows more than a few styling cues from the Gyesera, particularly in the front and rear sections, though its profile differs. With two massive ‘swan doors’ that angle upwards and an ‘American’ side exhaust system, it makes a confident statement. In terms of power and performance, Amaris does not take a back seat.

It accelerates from 0 to 60 miles per hour (0 to 96 km/h) in just 3.5 seconds, reaching speeds of up to 165 miles per hour (266 km/h). As could be inferred from its design, the Karma Amaris rides on the same aluminum frame as the upcoming Gyesera sedan. As for power, the manufacturers initially planned it as a fully electric vehicle, but later decided to equip it with an EREV powertrain and also update it for a 2025 release. These changes reflect a broader consumer demand shift for electric vehicles, especially in the premium and ultra-luxury segments. The same trend is affecting other Karma projects.

Cavea, originally slated for 2026, is now postponed to 2027. In parallel, the Ivara GT-UV crossover, a potential electric or hybrid vehicle, debuts in the same year, expanding the manufacturer’s lineup.
