Limited Edition Shelby Mustang GT350/TA Introduced
Shelby American used the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale to introduce a limited edition Mustang called the GT350/TA. This model commemorates the 60th anniversary of Trans Am racing and is fully street-legal.
The car is designed for enthusiasts who love track weekends. It is based on the Shelby GT350 and includes a series of modifications for weight reduction and performance enhancement.
Aggressive Design and Aerodynamics
Externally, the car received a hood with a carbon fiber extractor and a hidden graphic of the Shelby name. The aerodynamic package includes a carbon fiber front splitter, vertical planes on the bumper, and sporty side skirts. The equipment is complemented by an adjustable rear wing, a ducktail spoiler, and a unique diffuser.
The car also features special graphics, carbon fiber mirror caps, and a modified grille. It is fitted with Forgeline alloy wheels, shod in Pirelli P Zero tires, and an Alcon braking system.
Updated Interior and Powerful Powertrain
Updates also touched the interior, where leather sports seats with Shelby embroidery, carbon fiber trim elements, door sill plates, and a serial number plate have appeared. The presence of a safety cage made of chromoly steel is particularly noteworthy.
Under the hood works a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine with a high-performance exhaust system featuring four tailpipes. The model also has special engine calibration and an expanded cooling complex.
This configuration allows the car to develop over 830 horsepower.
The engine works exclusively paired with a six-speed manual transmission, which is equipped with a short-throw shifter.
Road and Race Suspension
The car received a retuned suspension with fully adjustable racing struts and shocks with remote reservoirs. Heavy-duty half-shafts and components meeting Trans Am specifications, including sway bars and a rear differential, are also installed.
Limited Production and Price Competition
Production will be limited to only 70 units. The GT350/TA will be built in Michigan in collaboration with Turn Key Automotive. The starting price is $219,995. This is approximately $110,000 less than the Mustang GTD, but places the model alongside cars such as the less powerful but highly capable Porsche 911 GT3 and GT3 RS, with starting prices of $235,800 and $250,000 respectively.
If raw power is the priority, there is another contender on the market — the new Corvette ZR1X with 1250 horsepower, whose starting price is $209,700.
The release of this limited series not only pays tribute to history but also clearly marks Shelby’s position in the high-performance car market. Comparisons with Porsche and Corvette show that buyers are getting not just a modified Mustang, but a serious track tool with a unique heritage. The limited production run makes the GT350/TA a potentially valuable collectible, which could justify its significant cost in the eyes of brand enthusiasts.
