New Tesla Model Y Performance: What We Know
Tesla is preparing to launch an updated version of the Model Y Performance. A prototype has already been tested on the Nürburgring, though it remains camouflaged. It’s important to note that this is an early version, and some details may change before mass production.
Among the visible changes are a longer rear spoiler and larger wheels, similar to those on the Model S Plaid. The Pirelli P Zero tires are likely to be 21 inches in size with wider rear wheels. Unlike the Model 3 Performance, this prototype still retains the standard bumper, but this may change.
Technical Features
The interior is expected to feature sport seats with enhanced lateral support, as well as Performance-branded decals. The suspension is lower than in standard versions and may offer adaptive dampers with Standard, Sport, and Track modes. Red brake calipers may indicate an upgraded braking system.
According to sources, the Model Y Performance will use the same all-wheel-drive system as the Model 3, with dual motors producing 510 hp. This setup will allow acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in 3.2–3.3 seconds. The estimated range on a single charge is 290 miles.
Release Date and Pricing
No official release date has been announced yet, but the model is likely to debut in the fourth quarter of 2025. The starting price will be around $55,000, which is $7,000–8,000 more expensive than the Long Range AWD version.
Although this is not the final version, the Model Y Performance already showcases significant changes in design and technical aspects. It will be particularly interesting to see how Tesla addresses the braking system—critics have repeatedly pointed out overheating issues in previous versions. Questions also remain regarding the exact battery configuration and possible additional options for improved dynamics.
