New Open-Top Ferrari Amalfi Prepares for Its Premiere
Fans of Italian sports cars looking for an ‘entry-level’ Ferrari with the possibility of open-top driving will soon get the perfect option. According to new data, the company from Maranello plans to present the open version of the Amalfi model as early as next month.
The new model is expected to receive a number of key characteristics:
A Logical Continuation of the Model Line
The news about the appearance of the Ferrari Amalfi in an open version is not a surprise. Its predecessor, the Roma model, was also offered as both a coupe and a convertible. The car before it, the Portofino, was also available with a hard folding roof, although the technical solutions for transformation in them differed.
Like the Roma, the Amalfi Spider will have a folding fabric roof. For comparison, the older Portofino and California models were equipped with heavier folding hard tops.
The design of the convertible will be almost identical to the coupe; however, Ferrari engineers will have to make changes to the rear section, where space for the roof mechanism will be located, slightly reducing the trunk volume.
Technical Specifications and Equipment
In terms of the powertrain, the Spider will be identical to the Coupe. The car will retain the excellent 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, producing 631 hp and 760 Nm of torque. The coupe accelerates to 100 km/h in approximately 3.3 seconds. The additional weight of the convertible mechanism may slightly increase this time, to about 3.5 seconds, which, however, remains a very high figure for public roads.
The interior will also undergo minimal changes. Unlike models such as the 296 GTB or SF90 Stradale, which were criticized for excessive reliance on touch buttons, the Amalfi Spider will retain physical controls. This will include real buttons on the steering wheel, a separate physical engine start button, and the classic Manettino driving mode selector.
Expected Price and Market Prospects
The starting price of the Ferrari Amalfi Coupe in the US begins just above the $260,000 mark. The open version, traditionally, will be slightly more expensive. The price of the convertible is expected to approach $270,000.
The appearance of the open version of the Amalfi is an important step in filling a niche in the brand’s GT car lineup. This model combines elegant design, a powerful engine, and the feeling of free movement with an open top, which has always been part of Ferrari’s DNA. The retention of physical buttons in the interior can be seen as a response to the wishes of purists who value tactile feedback while driving. Market conditions for such cars remain stable, as they combine prestige, driving pleasure, and everyday practicality, making them attractive to a wide range of buyers.
