McLaren and Secretlab Collaboration: A Gaming Chair at Car Price
Many dream of a supercar, but few have the opportunity to purchase one. Now, anyone with two thousand dollars can become the owner of a new gaming chair under the McLaren brand.
The manufacturer of the famous McLaren supercar has joined forces with the company Secretlab, known for its W1 chair, to create a limited series of 100 gaming chairs with a carbon frame.
The new model is named the Secretlab McLaren MonoCell Edition. Its design is inspired by the cars of the British manufacturer: genuine carbon fiber is used, and the frame shape replicates the teardrop silhouette of McLaren hypercars. Each chair will have a serial number on the back.
Exclusivity and Strict Purchase Conditions
The manufacturer emphasizes the product’s exclusivity. Only 100 units will be released, and their cost is $1,999 USD. Order acceptance will begin on December 15 at 8:00 AM Pacific Time.
However, buyers should be cautious, as sales are final. After placing an order, it cannot be canceled, and the product is not subject to return or exchange. Thus, the purchase decision must be conscious and final.
Technologies and Materials from the Automotive World
According to the manufacturer, the build quality meets McLaren’s high standards. The carbon frame replicates the MonoCell monocoque technology used in sports car chassis. The upholstery is made from Dinamica microsuede, often found in the interiors of premium cars and designed to provide the feel of a real supercar.
The construction is based on the Secretlab TITAN Evo model. The chair is equipped with cold-cure foam, a special seat shape, and a unique L-ADAPT lumbar support system with four adjustments. This system is designed to ensure optimal weight distribution, stable back support, and reduced pressure during long gaming sessions.
A More Affordable Alternative
For those who fail to purchase one of the 100 exclusive carbon chairs, Secretlab offers an alternative — the TITAN Evo McLaren Edition model. It uses synthetic leather with an imitation carbon fiber pattern and has technical characteristics similar to the brand’s other chairs. Its starting price is significantly lower — $799. In terms of build quality, it resembles a chair created earlier in collaboration with Lamborghini.
This product is part of a trend where premium car manufacturers are entering new consumer goods markets for them, leveraging their reputation in design and high technology. Such collaborations allow brand enthusiasts to experience a share of automotive luxury in everyday life, even if they cannot afford a real sports car. The success of such initiatives will depend on how much the product’s quality and user experience justify its high price in the eyes of the target audience.
