Volvo conducted a very unusual crash test. We know that the Swedes are obsessed with safety, but in this case, they outdid themselves.
Volvo XC40 and XC60 crossovers were dropped from a height of 30 meters. Engineers calculated that the damage in this case is equivalent to that received in a collision with a truck or an impact at high speed.
The Volvo crash test was conducted for rescue services.
Its goal is to practice the skills of extracting victims from a wrecked car. New Volvo XC40 and XC60 were specifically chosen for the drills, not cars from a junkyard, because the metal of older cars is not as strong anymore.
By the way, in the USA, a brand new Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 was sacrificed for the same purpose.
