New Tesla Model 3 and Y Face Harsh Criticism

Japanese Tesla Tuning: Extreme Lowrider Style for Model 3 and Y

Radical Image Change

Although Tesla is traditionally associated with minimalist design, Japanese tuners from T-Demand have radically changed the appearance of the Model 3 and Model Y. The main feature became the extremely low ground clearance, achieved thanks to a special air suspension.

The Model Y received 21-inch wheels with low-profile Nitto tires (245/35R21). The suspension allows reducing the ground clearance to the level of sports cars, and the negative camber of 5.5 degrees gives the car a more aggressive look. Additionally, a braking system with 380-millimeter discs and six-piston calipers was installed.

Even Lower Highland

The Model 3 Highland in the T-Demand version looks even more radical. It uses 20-inch wheels with 255/30R20 tires, and the camber angle reaches 8-9 degrees. The car is equipped with a three-level ProDamper Airsus air suspension, which in its lowest position leaves minimal clearance between the underbody and the road.

Both demonstration cars were created by Man’z Factory based on rear-wheel-drive versions. They retained standard bodies and motors, focusing on visual and running changes.

High Price of Style

The air suspension kit costs from ¥780,000 ($5,400), and the full upgrade package together with brakes and wheels can exceed $20,000. Such tuning significantly limits everyday use but is guaranteed to attract attention on the road.

Despite the fact that such modifications do not improve dynamic characteristics, they demonstrate the potential for non-standard customization of electric vehicles. It is interesting to see if there will be those willing to repeat such a project outside of Japan, where road quality often leaves much to be desired.
