New Volkswagen models to get physical buttons in updated version of electric cars!

Updated Volkswagen ID.3 and ID.4 to receive new design and interior

Volkswagen is preparing to update its electric ID.3 and ID.4 models in 2026. The cars will receive an exterior look inspired by the new ID.2, as well as an updated platform and interior. Among the expected changes are a lower and more sporty seating position, as well as a new cabin design with an improved multimedia system.

As noted by Volkswagen Board Member for Technical Development Kai Grünitz:

The updated models will receive a more modern design, closer to the ID.2, as well as improved control ergonomics.

Among other things, insiders report the return of physical buttons, including a volume knob, which is expected to improve usability.

Technical improvements and release plans

Although details about the updated powertrains have not yet been disclosed, the models are expected to receive more powerful and efficient electric motors, as well as updated battery packs. The debut of the updated ID.3 is scheduled for the second quarter of 2026, while the ID.4 is set to be released later that same year.

Furthermore, Volkswagen is working on a new compact model, the ID.2X, which will become a competitor to the Jeep Avenger. This new model may be introduced in the very near future. The company continues to expand its lineup of electric vehicles, striving to combine modern technologies with classic, proven solutions.

The update of Volkswagen’s electric models is happening against the backdrop of a general trend towards improving electric cars – increasing range, optimizing the interior, and improving driving comfort. These changes could make the ID.3 and ID.4 even more attractive to buyers looking for a balance between innovation and proven solutions.
