The newest Caterham honors Germany’s most famous track

New special edition Caterham Seven in honor of the Nürburgring

British manufacturer Caterham has unveiled a limited edition of its legendary Seven sports car, dedicated to the famous Nürburgring track. This comes just a few weeks after the release of a special model honoring the Miami Grand Prix.

Technical features and design

The special edition is available based on the Seven 340R or Seven 420R models. Each car is equipped with a unique Bilstein suspension, developed specifically for the German track but suitable for daily use on ordinary roads.

Externally, the car features distinctive “Nürburgring” branding, a bright red roll hoop, and a prominent front radiator grille. Buyers can order the model in Verkehrsrot (Red), Achatgrau (Agate Gray), or Basaltgrau (Basalt Gray) colors, as well as order an individual color.

Inside, the car gains leather seats with Nürburgring embroidery, red stitching, sequential gear shift indicators, four-point racing seat belts, and several carbon fiber parts.

Caterham’s history at the Nürburgring

The engine remains unchanged — it is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder Ford Duratec, producing 210 hp at 7600 rpm and 203 Nm of torque at 6300 rpm. The car weighs only 560 kg, allowing it to accelerate to 96 km/h in 3.8 seconds, with a top speed of 219 km/h.

Why did Caterham decide to create a car in honor of the Nürburgring? Besides the fact that next year the track will celebrate its 100th anniversary, in 2002 Caterham participated in the 24-hour race on this circuit. The team of four drivers included well-known automotive journalist Chris Harris. The car not only won its class with a margin of over 10 laps but also finished 11th overall — an impressive result considering its relatively modest power.

The price for the Caterham Seven Nürburgring Edition starts from £48,995 (approximately $65,200 USD).

This special series highlights not only Caterham’s connection with the iconic track but also demonstrates how a small manufacturer can create unique models that pay tribute to important events in motorsport history. The limited run of 100 examples makes this version desirable for collectors, and the mention of success in the 2002 24-hour race adds historical value to the model. It is worth noting that Caterham continues the tradition of creating thematic special editions, allowing the brand to remain in the spotlight of enthusiasts despite relatively small production volumes.
