Independent concept of the new Jeep Renegade by Maltese Design
The design studio Maltese Design has presented its own version of the future Jeep Renegade. The concept retains the rugged look characteristic of its predecessor but features sharper lines and modern solutions. Officially, Jeep plans to release the new generation Renegade in 2027, including a fully electric version.
The current Jeep Renegade debuted back in 2014 and, despite numerous updates, requires a serious redesign. Independent designer Marco Maltese decided not to wait for the official premiere and created his own interpretation of the model, emphasizing its off-road character.
Updated design and technical capabilities
The concept retains the compact dimensions of the original but features a more angular design. Prominent fenders, a high window line, and large wheels create an aggressive image. The front loses the round headlights but retains semi-circular LED elements inspired by the Land Rover Defender. The seven-slot grille and plastic cladding emphasize the off-road style.
We already know that the new generation Renegade will feature the modern STLA Small platform, which supports both conventional engines and hybrid and electric variants.
Among the expected powertrains are a turbocharged 1.2-liter engine with a 48-volt hybrid system, as well as a fully electric version. The new Renegade will begin competing with models such as the Peugeot 2008, Hyundai Kona, and other compact crossovers.
Although this is just a concept, Maltese Design has meticulously worked not only on the exterior but also on the interior, proposing a digital instrument panel and practical storage systems. The official premiere of the new model will take place in three years, but already now we can appreciate what the future of this model might look like.
The Jeep Renegade remains one of the few compact models of the brand that retains its classic spirit. Its update could attract both off-road enthusiasts and those looking for a stylish urban crossover. The only question is whether the manufacturer will choose a more conservative approach, as with the Compass, or take the path of radical changes.
