The New Corvette ZR1X Turns Out to Be More Powerful Than the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport

The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X is a new hybrid supercar that is rewriting the rules for American sports cars. 1267 (!) horsepower (compared to the Veyron Super Sport’s 1200), a 0-60 mph time of under 2 seconds, and hardware worthy of a race car — all of this is now available not just to millionaires. And although the official price has not yet been announced, it is expected to be around $250,000 in the USA.

The ZR1X is the most powerful production Corvette in the model’s history. Its hybrid powertrain consists of a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 LT7 (1079 hp and 1123 Nm) and a 189 hp electric motor on the front axle. Combined — a staggering 1267 hp, available in Push-to-Pass mode. It covers a quarter mile in under 9 seconds with a trap speed of over 240 km/h (149 mph). The top speed is still a secret, but there is every reason to expect over 370 km/h (230 mph).

At speeds over 257 km/h (160 mph), the front drive disengages — the Corvette becomes a rear-wheel-drive monster. With such performance, it’s no surprise the ZR1X is equipped with Alcon carbon-ceramic brakes: 16.5-inch discs and 10-piston (front) and 6-piston (rear) calipers.

As for the looks — there are no radical changes. Everything is recognizably Corvette: extensive carbon fiber aerodynamic bodywork (up to 544 kg of downforce), adaptive suspension, Michelin sport tires, and a new PTM Pro mode for the most daring — with full disengagement of electronic aids. The interior is updated, with a three-level digital dashboard, a minimum of buttons, and a maximum of carbon fiber.

The ZR1X will be available in two variants: with a targa and a rigid folding roof (essentially a convertible). The start of sales is planned for the end of the year.

And the most interesting part: given the power and character of the new Corvette, the only question is when the first wrecked ZR1Xs will start appearing on Copart. And then, look, Ukrainian roads will be enriched by another serious “nail” — with carbon-ceramics, 10 pistons, and the potential to overtake any car within a radius of several kilometers.
