Chery’s New Premium Subdivision Presents an Electric Shooting Brake (Photo)

At the 23rd International Auto Show in Guangzhou, the world premiere of the Exeed Exlantix ES GT took place – the first station wagon from Chery’s subsidiary brand, which decided to enter the shooting brake segment not empty-handed, but with a full “arsenal” of technology and power.

The manufacturer itself calls the Exlantix ES GT a new interpretation of the shooting brake concept – and it’s hard to argue with that. The model is based on the coupe-like Exlantix ES sedan and has retained its key proportions: width, height, and wheelbase length. The recognizable full-width LED light bar at the rear and the soft sporty curves of the hood were also kept. Aerodynamics is a separate story: thanks to the “shark fin” antenna and dual-channel rear spoiler, the drag coefficient is only 0.205 – fantastic for a station wagon.

Inside, the ES GT received a panoramic glass roof with an electric sunshade, physical buttons for controlling recuperation and climate, and ergonomic seats with a wide range of adjustments. Exeed has finally acknowledged that drivers want to feel the buttons, not search for them on the screen – and this is a definite plus.

The main “feature” is the powertrain. The station wagon has three electric motors, and their combined power exceeds 400 kW (over 543 hp). Accordingly, the dynamics here are already at the level of full-fledged sports cars, and the ES GT does not look like a family carrier at all.

Standard equipment includes an air suspension with adaptive CDC dampers and increased torsional rigidity of the body. All this improves stability at high speeds and makes the station wagon much more obedient in corners.

Regarding the price and start of sales, Exeed remains silent for now. But given the content and the level of “chargedness” of the model, the ES GT will definitely not be cheap and is obviously aimed immediately at the global market.
