Alpine Presents the A290 Rallye Electric Rally Car
The Alpine company, famous for its rally victories in the 1950s, 1960s, and early 1970s, has introduced the new electric A290 Rallye model. This is a competition-spec car with a price of 60,000 euros, demonstrating that electric vehicles can be just as thrilling off-road.
Although the A290 Rallye is not an aggressive monster like the Group B cars, it is designed for participation in local competitions. The car is based on the road-going version of the A290, which, along with the Renault 5, has already proven its competitiveness in racing.
Technical Features
The rally version retains a single electric motor with a power of 217 hp but has received a number of important upgrades:
Additional Features
In addition to standard rally attributes such as Sabelt seats and a roll cage, the A290 Rallye has received a unique sound generator system. It creates an artificial sound that changes depending on speed and throttle pedal position to provide a more spectacular experience for spectators.
The first showings of the A290 Rallye will take place at the Rallye Rouergue Rodez Aveyron Occitanie, after which the car will visit Goodwood in the UK and the Rallye Mont-Blanc Morzine. Buyers will also have the opportunity to participate in a special event in France with technical support from Alpine.
This model is an important step for Alpine in returning to rally competitions, demonstrating that electric vehicles can be not only eco-friendly but also full-fledged sports cars. The manufacturer emphasizes the affordability of the A290 Rallye compared to other rally cars, which may interest both private entrants and teams.
