The new AUDI E7X is fundamentally different from the brand’s familiar models

New Audi E7X electric crossover unveiled in China

Chinese regulatory authorities have officially revealed information about the upcoming Audi electric crossover, known under the index E7X. The model, which will debut next year, will be offered with a powerful all-wheel-drive system.

Key characteristics of the novelty, according to the data, include:

Exterior and dimensions

The design of the E7X is easily recognizable: a fully closed radiator grille and a characteristic front end. However, the production model has abandoned the full light surround that was on the concept. A redesigned lower opening with possible active shutters has also appeared.

Other notable details include the presence of both traditional and digital mirrors, new cameras or sensors on the front fenders, a Lidar sensor on the roof, retractable door handles, and wheels up to 22 inches in diameter.

The dimensional parameters of the Audi E7X are:

  • Length: 5049 mm
  • Width: 1997 mm
  • Height: 1710 mm
  • Wheelbase: 3060 mm

This makes the production crossover slightly smaller than the concept. For comparison, it is 20 mm shorter than the current Audi Q7 with an internal combustion engine, but has a wheelbase that is 66 mm longer.

Interior and technologies

The manufacturer has not yet released official photos of the interior, but has confirmed that at least one version of the E7X will have a four-seat layout.

Audi E5 Sportback interior

The technological equipment is expected to inherit much from the related E5 Sportback model. This includes, first and foremost, a 27-inch panoramic display spanning the entire width of the dashboard and an AI avatar known as the AUDI Assistant. The transfer of elements such as three-dimensional wood trim, dual wireless smartphone charging, an ambient lighting system, an aroma diffuser, and hidden ventilation outlets is also possible.

Engines and specifications

Data indicates the presence of both all-wheel-drive (quattro) and rear-wheel-drive modifications.

  • The base version with a single motor on the rear axle will develop 402 hp.
  • The all-wheel-drive version with two motors will deliver 671 hp, allowing acceleration up to 230 km/h.

Although the MIIT documents lack details about the battery, the concept car was equipped with a 109 kWh battery, providing a CLTC cycle range of over 700 km. The use of an 800-volt architecture allowed for the recovery of approximately 320 km of range in ten minutes of fast charging.

The launch of the production Audi E7X on the market is planned for next year, so more detailed information should appear in the coming months.

The emergence of the E7X clearly demonstrates the group’s strategic focus on the Chinese electric vehicle market, where competition is extremely high. The model combines powerful technical characteristics typical of the premium segment with technologies particularly in demand among local buyers, such as advanced driver assistance systems and a high-tech cabin. The success of this model could significantly influence the brand’s position in a key global region for electric vehicles.
