Bentley Introduces New Powerful Hybrid Coupes and Convertibles
Bentley has announced updated versions of its iconic models — the Continental GT S and GTC S. These cars have received a powerful hybrid powertrain and a number of technological updates aimed at enthusiast drivers.
The main features of the new models include:
Technical Capabilities and Dynamics
The heart of the new models is the high-performance High Performance Hybrid system, combining a 4.0-liter V8 engine and an electric motor. Total output is 671 hp and 930 Nm of torque.
The plug-in hybrid system allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 190 mph.
At the same time, the car is capable of traveling up to 50 miles on electric power alone, making it not only powerful but also more environmentally friendly for urban conditions.
Innovations in Control and Chassis
To improve handling, Bentley engineers equipped the new models with the Bentley Performance Active Chassis system, previously available only on the top GT Speed and GT Mulliner versions. The system includes:
- Active all-wheel drive with torque vectoring technology.
- A suspension with dual-valve dampers and an active anti-roll system.
- A full four-wheel steering system.
A feature is the presence of an electronic locking center differential, which is new for the Continental GT S series.
Driving Modes for Experienced Drivers
For those who appreciate sporty driving, a special Dynamic Mode is provided. It allows for controlled induction of rear axle slip while maintaining the ability to quickly regain the intended trajectory. The electronic stability control system can be fully disabled for even greater control on the track.
Exterior and Design
The exterior of the S models is distinguished by a sporty yet refined character. Standard equipment includes the Blackline Specification package, which adds:
- Gloss black inserts in the matrix-type radiator grille.
- Black badging and a subtle front spoiler.
- Sporty side sills, a restrained diffuser, and Beluga black-colored mirrors.
The cars also received tinted lighting units, a sporty exhaust system, and 22-inch wheels with a silver finish. Customers can choose wheels with two-tone or gloss black finishes.
Interior Trim
Although official interior images have not been published, it is known that the cabin will have unique two-tone upholstery and a sculpted seat design. The steering wheel, gear selector, and door panels will be trimmed in Dinamica material.
Standard trim is black polished wood veneers, but carbon fiber is optionally available. Customers can also order other types of trim, dark chrome accents, or a fully leather-trimmed cabin.
Market Positioning
The manufacturer does not disclose the exact price of the new models, but analysts suggest they will occupy a niche between the luxury Azure versions and the most powerful Speed models. The latter, recall, still hold a performance advantage thanks to a 771 hp engine.
The presented models demonstrate the brand’s clear trend towards combining luxury, high technology, and environmental friendliness. The hybrid powertrain not only increases performance but also significantly expands the car’s practicality in urban conditions thanks to the possibility of fully electric driving. Active chassis and control technologies, borrowed from flagship versions, make these cars serious contenders for the title of some of the most balanced and exciting-to-drive representatives of their class. This step can also be seen as part of Bentley’s larger strategy for a gradual transition to electromobility, combining the brand’s traditional values with the demands of modernity.
