The new rear-wheel-drive Corvette ZR1 accelerates to 60 mph as fast as the all-wheel-drive Revuelto

The new Corvette ZR1 impresses with its speed

The new Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 has demonstrated incredible acceleration performance. According to tests, it accelerates from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 2.2 seconds. This is particularly impressive, considering that all 1064 horsepower of its 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8 are delivered only to the rear wheels. The powerful Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires play a crucial role in such dynamics.

“This is the fastest rear-wheel-drive car we have ever tested,” notes Car and Driver.

Technical details

Although the measurements were taken with the so-called “one-foot rollout” (which usually reduces the time by 0.2–0.3 seconds), the results remain outstanding. For comparison, the all-wheel-drive Lamborghini Revuelto with 1001 hp showed the same time—2.2 seconds.

In addition to accelerating to 60 mph, the ZR1 reaches 100 mph in 4.5 seconds and 130 mph in 7.1 seconds. It covers a quarter-mile in 9.5 seconds with a top speed of 149 mph. It is worth noting that all these results were achieved on regular pavement, without any special track preparation.

The mid-engine layout and wide tires contribute to effective traction, allowing the car to realize its full potential. Given these characteristics, even better results can be expected on professional tracks.

The Corvette ZR1 is not only fast but also technologically advanced. Its top speed is 233 mph, making it one of the most powerful production sports cars on the market. This model will undoubtedly become a focal point for car enthusiasts and collectors.
